So you’ve just booted up your fresh new installation of SketchUp Pro 2021 and you’ve been greeted with this message
Please authorize SketchUp
You are using SketchUp Pro on too many machines. Please sign-out from another machine, or manage your activations below
Don’t panic, it’s all going to be ok, this just means you’ve reached your activation limit for SketchUp.
Perhaps you’ve previously installed SketchUp 2019 and 2020 on your Desktop workstation and SketchUp 2020 on your laptop. Now as we are trying to activate SketchUp 2021, we have gone over our activation limit of 3 instances.
Manage Activations
So first off, click the “Manage Activations” Button which will take us to the SketchUp and Trimble account management site. If for any reason you struggle to load this , you can access this via a web browser using this link.
Sign in with the email account your SketchUp subscription is allocated to and if you have multiple accounts, choose the sub-account to which your subscription is also attached, for me, it is the second option labeled Elmtec, for you it may be your business name or simply a personal account.

This shall bring you through to the “My Products” Screen
On this screen you’ll now see any active subscriptions (indicated by the green “active” badged) as well as any expired or legacy products you may happen to have.
My Products
Here we can see all of the products included with our SketchUp Subscription, I have a SketchUp Studio subscription, so I can also see some additional products such as Sefaira.
This is a useful area to know about, as not only will it allow us to solve the problem we currently have, but it will also allow us to find the download links for all of the products we have access to.
SketchUp Pro is the product we are interested in right now, however the process for reseting our activation limit in Layout or Style Builder is also the same.
So let’s go ahead and choose “Manage Devices”
Confirm Deauthorisation
Now we have deauthorised SketchUp for all machines and versions that have been activated previously, we simply need to sign back into the SketchUp Software itself.
You should now be signed in, if not go ahead and do so and you should be back up and running again!
