SketchUp Student Licences
A SketchUp Student Subscription is where great ideas get to work and takes your designs from the classroom into the real world.
To qualify for a SketchUp student Licence:
- To qualify, you must be a current student at an accredited educational institution (for example a college or university)
- You must also provide proof of student status (letter of enrollment or copy of student ID card).
- Subscriptions for SketchUp Studio for Students expire one year from the date of generation.
- You can install SketchUp Studio on both your desktop and laptop computers.
- SketchUp Student licenses cannot be used for commercial (for-profit) work of any kind.
SketchUp Educator Licences
The SketchUp Pro subscription bundle for Educators gives teachers and lecturers everything needed to get projects done; an easy-to-use UI and intuitive tools make SketchUp the easiest way to design and communicate ideas to your class. SketchUp Studio for Educators includes use of SketchUp desktop, Sefaira, LayOut, Style Builder, PreDesign SketchUp Viewer for XR apps, SketchUp Viewer for Mobile apps, SketchUp web, Pro support, Pro learning and Trimble Connect.
SketchUp Studio for Universities is launching with simplified tiered pricing available to higher education institutions looking to purchase bulk SketchUp For Schools subscriptions in quantities of 10 or higher.
To Qualify:
- SketchUp Studio for University subscriptions are available to accredited educational institutions for use in instructional settings.
- Educational institutions who would like to use SketchUp Pro for any purpose other than teaching students do not qualify for educational pricing and would need to purchase commercial licenses.
- Research and Facilities/Planning departments within educational institutions do not qualify.
- SketchUp Studio for University subscriptions cannot be used for commercial (for-profit) work of any kind.
- SketchUp Studio for Schools & University subscriptions expire after one year.
- SketchUp Students can access their subscription wherever they are! If they have been assigned an entitlement, they can sign into SketchUp to work.
SketchUp Perpetual Licences
As of November 4, 2020, SketchUp Pro is no longer available in a perpetual license form with its annual maintenance and support fees. A subscription is now the way to access SketchUp Pro, which offers a whole suite of products at a lower price point and with constant SketchUp updates and improvements to user requests.

Can I subscribe to SketchUp Pro on a monthly basis?
Currently, you can only subscribe to SketchUp Pro on a pre-paid annual basis.
Can I still purchase a Classic Perpetual licence for SketchUp?

Can I upgrade my SketchUp Classic Perpetual licence to a subscription?
No, you can no longer upgrade a Classic Perpetual license.

SketchUp Pro is powerful and intuitive 3D modelling computer software for a wide range of drawing applications used across a range of industries from architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and construction, to film and video game design.
A commercial SketchUp Pro subscription is assigned to one individual and can only be used by that registered user. It cannot be shared between colleagues. The individual can authorise their subscription on two computers that they use – but can only use one at a time (typically a work computer/desktop and a laptop).
To access your subscription, you must sign in with Trimble ID. Each user account can only be associated with one individual person. You cannot create a generalised user account that is shared by more than one person. This is what we refer to as a “named user”.
SketchUp Studio Licence:
SketchUp Studio is for design teams that want to advance their workflows. Draw in 3D, import and model on point cloud data, generate hi-res photoreal renders, and share your designs. Windows only.
V-Ray 5 and Scan Essentials are now included in your SketchUp Studio subscription. Start your project off by importing and modelling on robust point cloud data and finish it using incredible, high-quality renders.
